I'm far less interested in "whether Christianity" is fake or not.
It would be terrifying if it were true.
Christianity has in it the call for genocide, the rape of women, the enslavement of people, witch burning, torture of children for disobedience, and genital mutilation. All of which are abhorent, yet christianity and the books of the bible mention these things not to address them or combat them, but to endorse them.
I don't know if it's true or not, but if the christian god is real, that god has to be evil.
So, I can somewhat understand how people believe in god, but I can't understand how the people who believe in god aren't angry with him for being evil.
No, the bible does not endorse any of this.
The Bible does not mention or endorse "witch burning." Witch trials were a phenomenon of the late medieval and early modern periods in Europe and colonial America thousands of years after the Bible was written. In the New Testament, the Apostles explicitly ruled that ancient practices like circumcision were no longer required for Christians.
Jesus' core commands are to love God, love one's neighbor, and love one's enemies. The New Testament contains zero calls for genocide, slavery, or violence; instead, it commands Christians to peaceful submission and self-sacrifice.
You see a history that you blame God for. The reality of this history through the lens of Jesus, seeing a God of mercy, self-sacrifice, and justice. Rather than endorsing evil, Christian theology teaches that God enters into a broken, violent human history to redeem it.
If you continue to stay stuck in the history of the old testament, that was caused by humans, you'll continue to miss out what the price Jesus paid for you.
