Why on earth would those who partook of his services want him gone? They would need to find someone ELSE they could trust, to do the same job.



Much better from their point of view to give everyone a story WITH a possible conspiracy element they could chew on, and just get him OUT of prison. Then they don't lose their play pretty island.
