Intelligent adults who are grounded in their ideology seldomly have seismic shifts in their ideologies. The word you're looking for is impressionable rather than intellectual.

Has IceMage had a seismic shift in his ideology?

Lol. Void, I agreed with your dopey foreign policy years ago. I voted for Ron Paul in 2008. I've been a consistent social and fiscal conservative throughout.

Holding the same views from young adulthood until death is silly. It's not worthy of praise unless you assume the person had the correct views throughout.

I stopped saying the N-word and that's alienated me from the Republican party.

Would people describe moving from 2008 libertarian to 2014 Republican a seismic shift? I wouldn't.

Now if Skinned dove into libertarianism that would be a seismic shift.

If we look at his approval ratings instead of the net approval (approval minus disapproval), the picture is much less clear:

Trump has relatively normal approval ratings. Certainly on the lower end, but nothing out of the ordinary. What's really dragging him down in the net approval category is the high disapproval compared to previous presidents.

Simply put, Trump is a uniquely polarizing president. He has a similar share of the population behind him as previous presidents, but his detractors oppose him more passionately.

your whole point was about "Trump's allegedly unique unpopularity". the facts i provided to prove that to you are undeniable. you confirmed what i already told you: he has had uniquely high disapproval ratings for this point in his presidency - and combined with the very low approval ratings that results in an extremely unpopular president.

you now pivoting and trying to reframe the issue to 'polarising', maybe because you think it sound less bad than 'unpopular', or because you think that would somehow refute my point, is pretty dishonest. his unique unpopularity is well documented, and it's rather sad that you can't seem to accept this simple fact.

I don't know if you were around here for it, but not that long ago icemage would run around saying he wants the most conservative candidate possible..

"MSM has ridiculous fuck ups every now and then" and "MSM outlets like WaPo and NYT consistently have the best journalism in the country" aren't mutually exclusive.

Right-wing politicians have to pretend the media is completely biased and corrupt to hide their anti-intellectualism and inability to govern.

Of course it’s much more nuanced than saying “WaPo is completely biased.” They do a lot of great work. That’s not what he said tho. Scalise’s point is that [sometimes] places like WaPo are clearly biased, & this [attempting to paint the serial murderer & rapist leader of a terror organization as a nothing but a devout religious scholar in order to negate the positive press this incident gives Trump] is a prime example of said bias. You can’t call a rapist/murderous leader of a terror organization a “scholar” & wonder why a lot of people think the MSM is full of shit.

English is hard.

5 years ago you were pro trans, now you are pro trans

That's being grounded in your ideology. If 5 years from now you come out and say trans is a mental illness then you weren't grounded in your ideology where you?
