ppl love to preach their "over the internet armchair morality views".
it's easy to want peace and love while disregarding basic human nature.
just about every single country and civilization in the history of the entire human race have "obtained and controlled" their land based on "might is right". Those who are strong enough to be in control are the ones who get to be in control, generally speaking.
i want all of Israel and all of Palestine to drop their guns and become good friends, and i think this is the right thing to do, but like hey...welcome to reality, this is not how the world works and not what's going to happen.
from the perspective of Israel, the longer they wait, the "calmer" they are during their operation to remove Hamas, the more Palestinian lives will be saved AT THE COST OF MORE ISRAELI LIVES. Now i'm not saying Israeli lives are worth more than Palestinians, but from the perspective of the one doing the invasion to defeat an enemy, they will obviously choose the method that will lead to the least amount of losses of their own people. This is just basic common sense.
Israel is clearly the more powerful nation who was able to even defeat the neighboring arab nations when they tried to delete them. So it is simply just unrealistic to expect Palestine to do anything. What the UN needs to do is be the one taking FULL RESPONSABILITY, for the current existing land of Palestine and use all of their resources to set up a "UN" temporary government of Palestine. That land has to be a "POLICE STATE" for the next entire generation, that will make sure the youngin Palestine's aren't raised by extremists. Either this or they will just end up eventually ethnically cleansed and it will just all become Israel.
Who would be responsible to pay for all of this you say? Well, if the UN has any power that actually matters outside of opinions, they would vote for all countries that are part of the UN to fund ALL OF THIS. What's the point in being a country protesting the war in the UN council if you wont put your money where your mouth is?
At the end of the day, there is no freaking way a two-state solution is going to work. These people have been hating eachother since the dawn of our civilization and they all believe their own god and religion is the "righteous" one.
I also firmly believe that Islam, particularly in the Middle East, needs to evolve to fit modern society, but then again.... Who am i to say that my westernized views of morality are the "correct ones". Every society has the right to believe in their own set of morals and laws. While i personally believe that Jihad and Sharia Law have no place in modern human society, it does not make it so. Muslims are entitled to follow their set of beliefs and morals.
It's easy to call for a cease-fire or "delayed" war effort when it will help save lives in one side, at the cost of lives in the other side. I don't really have a "solution" for this conflict outside of "pipe-dream scenarios" unfortunately.
