"Free market" capitalism always results in monopolistic control over markets. It does not and has never existed otherwise.
True, and that's why we need classical social democracy, i.e. a system with capitalistic competition where the worst excesses and deficencies of capitalism (impoverishment of those at the bottom, formation of abusive monopolies) are reined in and alleviated by a prudent state.
This way, classical social democracy combines the flexibility and innovativeness of capitalism with a sufficiently just distribution of wealth and income and guarantees that the basic needs of all members of society are met.
What we dont need is true socialism in the sense of abolishing private property, the government seizing the means of production and adopting a planned economy. This approach has been proven time and time again in history to stiffle innovation, too unflexible to satisfy the needs of the people, and leading to authoritarian rule.
What we also dont need is the modern "campus left"-flavor of socialism or social democracy where society is organized around a neverending oppression olympics and ivory tower topics are put ahead of real problems, or where dubious moral arguments are used to justify neoliberal policies like open borders.
