jesus what a fucking wonky case. especially the quagmire of whether the boys 4th amendment rights were violated being unknowable because he was not arrested, suspected, or targeted.
basically the tl;dr would be, "dad arrested and convicted on violence against a cop (preapproved use of force during a raid arrest). but since child wasn't targeted they can't put it to a jury to confirm/deny the story of the family." what's not in the article, at least that i saw, is that the officer likely staunchly disagrees with the victims story.
it is fairly easy to sue cops tho, just hard to win. if you've been arrested you have a case for a suit as you're automatically tied into 4th amendment protections.
