and the impeachment failed when Clinton was acquitted in the senate earlier in the day before Wellstone gave that speech, and it politically backfired and the democrats who backed Clinton (unlike Gore) swept the house in the next election.
and it was moderate or at least sane democrats and republicans alike (ie not Graham) who had declared that impeachment was a terrible idea and nothing but petty partisan politics.
