Looks like the curve is bending here in Minnesota. Today's new cases are 6% of the previous days' total cases. New York's is about 10%, Michigan and New Jersey are about 15%.

trump administration and cdc now think it's a good idea that you wear those masks i told you to start wearing over a month ago

goddamn sheeple

My mother has been stockpiling needles, threads, fabrics, and patterns all my life. She's now spending her days making face masks. I called her tonight, and she said she was busy making them for a veteran's home.

You have no idea how awful it was moving my parents from a home they lived in for 19 years to a new one. As a joke, surfpunk and I started numbering all the boxes that had sewing materials in them, and no box with sewing materials was allowed to hold other ordinary stuff. Just wrote on the top of the first box "1 of 384" and so on. We got up to something like 94 boxes of fabric, patterns, projects, spools of thread.

When my parents die, the storage locker gets a fucking match.

After informing those tuned in that the new guidelines from the CDC recommends (voluntary) everyone wear a mask of some sorts while going out in public.

Quote
"From recent studies we know that the transmission from individuals without symptoms is playing a more significant role in the spread of the virus than previously understood,"

"I just don't want to do it myself."

"Sitting in the Oval Office... I somehow don't see it for myself."

"recent" even though it has been evident since February.. Brian Kemp is happy he's not alone anymore!

Quote
"You don't have to do it, I'm choosing not to do it, but some people may want to do it and that's OK. It may be good. Probably will."

"I just don't want to be doing [that], somehow sitting in the Oval Office behind that beautiful resolute desk, the great Resolute Desk."

"I think wearing a face mask as I greet presidents, prime ministers, dictators, kings, queens, I don't know somehow I don't see it for myself. I just don't. Maybe I'll change my mind."

That's a great way to get people to completely ignore what the CDC is saying. We still have people ignoring the stay at home measures being unevenly applied by the states.

Quote
"You also have a situation where, in some states, FEMA allocated ventilators to the states, and you have instances where, in cities, they're running out. But the state still has a stockpile, and the notion of the federal stockpile was — it's supposed to be our stockpile. It's not supposed to be state stockpiles that they then use,"

In other news, Kushner wants all the ventilators for his frat party. Weird how the PHE website changed it's mission statement after what was said.

The Administration also requested that 3M cease exporting respirators that we currently manufacture in the United States to the Canadian and Latin American markets. There are, however, significant humanitarian implications of ceasing respirator supplies to healthcare workers in Canada and Latin America, where we are a critical supplier of respirators. In addition, ceasing all export of respirators produced in the United States would likely cause other countries to retaliate and do the same, as some have already done. If that were to occur, the net number of respirators being made available to the United States would actually decrease. That is the opposite of what we and the Administration, on behalf of the American people, both seek.

Something to think about.

Look at the "New Deaths". Then look down at the bottom at the "Total -- New Deaths". Face masks or lack of, is not the problem. The rest of the country isn't doing that bad at all.

The state received about a third of the 778,129 face masks it requested, just 110,240 of the 421,532 N95 respirator masks it sought, well fewer than half of the 330,540 requested gloves and none of the 100,000 testing swabs it hoped to acquire to test for the virus, according to Federal Emergency Management Agency documents released Thursday by the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Reform.

Maryland was the only state in its FEMA region — which also covers the surrounding states and the District of Columbia — to request body bags. The state sought 15,000 and hasn’t received any, according to the document.

As Maryland seeks to ramp up testing, Democratic U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland said it is significant that the state hasn’t received any of the 100,000 nasopharyngeal swabs it requested from federal supplies or the 50,000 viral transport units it sought. Transport media is a substance used for preserving a test sample on its way to a laboratory.

Maryland did receive 138 of 200 requested ventilators, the FEMA documents show.

Overall, the oversight committee said FEMA had distributed fewer than 10% of the N95 masks and less than 1% of gloves sought collectively by Maryland, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Hogan has been critical of trump and won't kiss his ass, plus fox news seems to think he's a democrat, so I guess he isn't on the VIP list like Florida is. With the requests of body bags and the confirmed cases jumping by 17%, I guess they're anticipating more deaths in the region.

Many of these people reach a much larger audience than CNN... yet the right-wingers obsessed with criticizing the media are silent.
