people can bitch and moan about how mean the accusation is, but it could not be any more obvious that gun nuts simply value their firearms over the lives of innocent people, no matter how many massacres happen...
most proponents of gun rights are not indifferent to the loss of innocent lives, they simply disagree with the premises and conclusions under which gun opponents operate.
gun rights supporters think that social and mental issues instead of the mere availability of guns are the root cause of shootings. they think that the cases where guns saved innocent lives by being successfully used for self-defense should count against the victim numbers of shootings. and they believe that an armed society is the best protection against the rise of a tyrannical government of any kind and the loss of life such a course of events would subsequently cause.
now, I personally dont agree with all of these arguments. but what you're doing here is that you assume the other side to have the most ignorant and selfish possible reasons for their stance, and that's neither a justified nor a justifiable insinuation - and it is a thoroughly toxic and unproductive way of starting the conversation.
