They act as if they have won the whole war, not just a single battle. This "cold civil war" which has been going on for 2 decades plus is not decided just because Democrats were able to barely oust a man who largely self-destructed. And let's not forget that even this minimum goal was only achieved because a once-in-a-century pandemic gave them strong tailwinds, something they cant bank on in future elections.
We'll see.
In 2016 I said that if/when Republicans lose they will effectively be in a situation where they have no identity and rapidly shifting demographics make it virtually impossible to remain competitive at the federal level. That's still happening but Trump's massive rural turnout in 2016 pushed it back by 4 years. You're also forgetting that he only barely won 2016 because Hillary was supremely unpopular from the start, ran one of the worst campaigns in modern history, and Trump made a uniquely powerful populist message against the most iconic establishment candidate ever. Trump had a massive benefit of being the sitting president this election, but that's the opposite in 2024, and if they don't pick up 2024 they will be the outsider in 2028, so it's hard to envision another Trump populist vs Queen of Swamp Demons situation uniquely benefiting Republicans again.
Also forgive me for not taking you at face value when, again, you never made this kind of criticism about Republicans when they acted like they had won and proceeded to tell libs to cry about it for 3+ years and broke all norms to play power politics.

Ergo they are not actually calling for unity.
No one is saying that the left must seek unity, but Biden says he does, and unity requires compromise.
Democrats have ALWAYS been willing to compromise. It's why they're such spineless wimps when they get into government. Pelosi never fights on military spending increases and outright refuses to even allow medicare for all to come up for a vote. Biden flat out said that a strong Republican party is good for the country.
Again, you've devolved to the point where you're only capable of parroting Trump campaign ads.
