Just check the CDC link I gave you. They list evidence of the effectiveness of mask wearing, we know for a fact based on direct observations that masks slow the spread of droplets.
If you have 60% less virus out there, and the virus is staying closer to the host, and the virus travels in droplets which are effectively caught by the mask, (all of which is true beyond reasonable doubt at this point) then masks will be effective at slowing the spread.
It's not about totally stopping it. It's about reducing the chance you give it to someone else. It is an undeniable fact at this point that masks are effective at slowing the spread of the Sars-Cov-2 virus, and we know it based on direct observation of that effect.
I've kept up on the CDC info from day 1. A few facts for you:
1. Masks are not a preventative measure. They're a risk mitigation measure. 60% efficacy is not enough to be considered preventative. You brag about working in the medical field, yet fail to acknowledge this basic fact.
2. The virus can survive in the environment for 3 hours. The fact that you're 6 feet away from the next guy makes no difference when you're walking right behind him and breath the air containing the virus he just exhaled.
3. You can't stop it, and "15 days to flatten the curve" was NEVER about stopping it. The continual lockdowns and risk mitigation efforts have accomplished nothing but to hamstring the global economy and allow for authoritarian mandates and edicts.
You claim this isn't Ebola. You're right. This is far more infectious than Ebola and far less harmful.
The #1 winner in this risk mitigation mask campaign is China, who's producing the bulk of the cloth masks currently being worn by the average person when they go into public. The #1 winner of the lockdown authoritarianism is the large corporation who've had customers funneled away from their smaller competitors and directly to them for the last year.
There's no shock that companies like Walmart, Amazon, Target, Kroger, etc. have seen historic, record breaking highs in revenue and profit, while tens of millions of their smaller competitors have been locked down by edict.
Will masks prevent infection? No. They can lower the risk of it, but that's it. Will lockdowns prevent infection? No, because people still have to buy food and other household goods, and options are so limited on where to purchase that thousands of people are now at the few remaining open businesses during all open hours.
I've not said even once that Covid wasn't a serious concern for the elderly and those with comorbidities. It is, without a doubt. However, a virus with less than a 00.005% lethality rate among the working age population is nothing to lock down society over. I said a year ago that we need to come up with a solution to incentivize the elderly and at-risk to self-quarantine and other than that, keep on keeping on. You insisted the best route was lockdowns and masks. A year later, we've destroyed the global economy, millions have died anyhow, all over a virus where the average age of death (82) is higher than the average lifespan (78).
You've been wrong, consistently. Your policy prescriptions were wrong, your medical advise was laughable at best, and your prediction that the government would "help alleviate the stress on the economy" was just a blatant absurdity.
You should stop posting about covid. Your words on the matter are a joke.
