Biden "wasted" some time trying to negotiate with Republicans but I think it was a good faith effort on both sides. The reality is that they were too far apart and that's okay. At this point, the ball is in the GOP's court since it is now out of committee and certain Senators seem hellbent on making the process as painful as possible. I'd also blame the Dems for dicking around with minimum wage because that really isn't COVID related. Progressives need to learn to fight another day.

TARP took a while to negotiate but once it was voted on, it made it through extremely quickly. IMO, the COVID relief bill is significantly less urgent than TARP.


Its a silly misconception. Day 1 promises mean u work on it day 1. Not sign the bill. Unless it's ripping up eos... that can be literally done day 1. Biden has been working on stim checks since day 1 and the Dems pork has been the stalling point

I don't think it's the pork...it's the cutoff on who should get stimulus checks (the last time I checked). Ultimately, the only hard deadline that matters is March 14.

standalone bill. print money, sign checks, distribute. house would pass it and senate is 50/50 so its probably getting passed.

this isn’t difficult. the govt just did it to bomb some random plaza before the $2k $1.4k maybe checks were cut
