I love this thread.  It's humors me that two self-proclaimed Christians can have such heated discussions over the same belief.

Why would you expect different?

It's a little one sided actually. Only one is getting upset, the other has remained quite calm from my readings.

I apologize on behalf of Christians who come across that way or honestly those who are rude. We are to speak the truth in love...we aren't called to sugarcoat things, but at the same time we aren't called to ram religion down peoples throats. So often Christians are providing another way to connect with other people, to follow a list a rules, and give the 3 easy steps to get saved. Honestly they leave out the hard times, the discipline and the problems it has. Christians are suppose to offer encouragement to have a relationship with a loving God, even if that means shutting up and walking away from a debate. I hope that you find more humble Christians in the future. I believe Christians are only suppose to rebuke other Christians and not be condescending to nonbelievers.

I actually really haven't taken a bible class. I admit that I accept the Bible of the protestant church and haven't truly looked into the 7 books of the Catholic church. Furthermore I never said their weren't differences just that they didn't change the gospel message. There are versions of the Bible out there that are false, but honestly I haven't dug into them too much. If you had 2500 copies of the Newyork times from different areas of the US and 1 copy that said something completely different, which would you believe?
I get what your saying about feminist theology...or thealogy. I think it is silly to change God to a girl, because it would be no more right. I guess God is especially thought of as male because Jesus referred to him as Father. Since God doesn't have sex, I don't believe he has genitalia therefore he doesn't have a gender. So trying to make the gospel completely feminine is silly.

at the first bolded:
where did you get your indoctrination from then?

at the second bolded:
when you look into the various doctrines flaunted by the different denominations/sect/cults/etc there are quite substantial differences in the understanding of the message from the gospel
there are so many so called scholars who remind me of political spin doctoring rather than trying to present the original message of christianity

unfortunately that doesn't apply to all religions
and while the 'message of love' is (or rather should be) integral part of christianity
just read all posts of self proclaimed christians on this forum
and you will notice that it seems to be lost on many

Off the top of my head?

Jesus was speaking to a female who was just caught in adultery. He was telling the pious men about to stone her that if anyone of them where without sin then they could legally cast judgement and stone her. Since none of them where without sin except for Jesus, they couldn't cast the first stone. Jesus having not sinned, then spared her life and told her immediately go and sin no more.

Now I don't know the answer to question 4. I am currently looking it up.
In that scripture he uses the word anamartEtos which means one is unmissing...
So he uses the word "hamartane" meaning missing the mark. literally meaning "go and no longer miss the mark or choose the wrong road".

....and herein lies the problem .

There is no such a thing as off the top of my head in Bible interpretation . Jesus was speaking as the promised Messiah to the Jews , the fulfillment of Law and Prophecy . The word he used for sin in this case was very specific in that it means " sin of this nature , sexual sin " , punishable by death . Without His coming as their Messiah the Jews were perfectly within their legal right to stone the woman but Jesus was telling them that as the promised Messiah , the anointed King and Judge of Israel He and only He could judge the offense and hand out the punishment . This is one of the most misused Scriptures in the Bible , especially by non-believers , and when you misuse it yourself you only perpetrate the errors .

...I am certainly not heated and we have many beliefs in common ; on his use of that particular citation ( and very many others ) we do not hold the same beliefs .
