Where? The one link from the guy essentially shows no terrifs which only supports what I said with 98% of American imports being terrif free. Applied terrif is zero for almost everything.

I mean even republicans know how stupid it is. Hence them voting against their own party and staunch republicans on this very fourm commenting in the terrif math thread saying yeah it makes zero sense.

If you can put the pause button on the d-bag routine for 5 minutes, I'm legitimately trying to find more updated information on imposed tariffs from more recent than 2022 and without such a jank ass website. Sorry if I won't automatically take you at your word that the entire American executive branch is seeing ghosts.

I’m confused…. Are we saying Tariffs are Terrif? Either way Canada doesn’t need to rely on the US to prop up their economy like a parent holding a toddler’s hand to cross the street. Let them deal with other countries for several decades and see what it’s like in the real world.

The greedy spending of the US has been a crutch for the global economy long enough.

Druc making the point I already did in here. This is not just about trade policy but should be viewed in context of gov spending and what we can do to service the debt.

Still haven't seen a single soul even attempt to enlighten us all on why world tariffing USA good, but USA tariffing world bad. Why does world need better-than-parity. Why not equal and fair trade.

From what I understand this all stems from a conflict between Boeing and Airbus, which has been going on for 15+ years. Both sides were to "blame", each subsidizing their aircraft industries. Similar to the Ukraine war, this escalated to other goods. This was the mistake that each block made - escalation. practically, the vast majority of goods have had a tarriff of 1% with the aeronautical industry, and SELECTIVE items having high tarriffs.

Year Event
2004 U.S. files complaint at WTO against EU over Airbus subsidies.
2005 EU files counter-case against U.S. over Boeing subsidies.
2010–2019 WTO rules both sides gave illegal support (Airbus worse initially, but later ruled both guilty).
2019 U.S. imposes $7.5B in tariffs on EU goods.
2020 EU retaliates with $4B in tariffs on U.S. goods.
2021 Truce declared – tariffs suspended for 5 years.

today 2025 and rather then try to row back, we are seeing an escalation, this is in the belief, by Trump, that the world will fold. As I understand it, Trump wants people to buy local in order for US businesses to make profits, selling above world prices, in the US, ergo the consumer has no choice but to buy.

i dont know much about the chinese air industry. from what i read a few years ago, after stealing various technologies (i am agnostic on this point) and reverse engineering them, china now is a credible rival, which supports your simple comment. (i.e. expand on your point lol).

Everyone "steals" technologies historically.

i.e Gunpowder, Printing, Compass etc etc

Or most recently in the late 70s and 80s how the Japanese " Stole " technology and made their cars better and destroyed a large swat of the American Automobile industry.

But ofc, there wasn't internet at that point which means a lot of comments , accusations etc etc are not as well recorded.

sorry to reiterate: i am agnostic, i know that the west harps on about this point all the time, i simply dont care. maybe give us some info to support the claim that china is a credible competitor ?
