Yeah, why would we possibly think a party that admitted using the southern strategy and apologized for it might be a tad bit different than the party that signed civil rights?

"Switch" is clearly an over-simplification, but they have made significant changes to their platforms such that some things that Republicans were aligned with before are now part of the Democrat platform, and vice versa.

Still, it doesn't really matter, because "They did X 55+ years ago, so the current party is not racist" is a non-sequitur.
