Trump indeed doubling down on nepotism over expertise:

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/02/opinion/jared-kushner-coronavirus.html

He is totally allowing Kushner to direct this response. This is a joke. This is really a cruel joke. This guy is going to kill Americans because of his trust issues and personal interests.

I can't believe people here still support him or repeat the lie that there isn't a real alternative. The GOP believes thst Trump is a better leader than Kasich? Who already faced down a heroin epidemic so severe it killed more Ohioans than Americans died in Vietnam.

He is going to kill Americans due to his devotion to nepotism and his trust issues and half of Americans are going to support it, until it affects them personally.

I'm disgusted that the lives of me and my peers in healthcare mean so little to the American public and that political points are more important your grand children.

I have never before been so ashamed by my kinsmen for choosing someone like this to shit all over healthcare workers and our efforts who lets paranoia rule over fact.

Fuck all of you cultists this morning. You're shitty people for your continued support of this ineptitude. He isn't up to the job and we need some fucking leadership right now. He delegates, to his son in law.

Why are the cultists sending his doctor death threats? Shitlords.

It's not the GOP apparatus who believed that, it's the GOP rank and file who preferred Trump during the primaries, and who came out in droves in the general election to vote for him.

I agree, however, that Kushner is an incompetent fool and Trump should stop listening to him or granting him authority over pretty much anything.

The nytimes article is still overblown imho - Michelle Goldberg has been absolutely hysterical about anything Trump since day one.

He told Cuomo that he was being alarmist and that he, Jared, "has gotten a lot smarter about this" and said the need was not there for the vent requests. That was a month ago.

Its literally blood on their hands.

Rather nepotism has been going on for a long time or not we can still punish people guilty of crimes and hold people accountable for their actions.

The GOP apparatus can control their party. You guys criticize the DNC for it all the time motherfuckers. Lol.

There's digestive system forms of the disease, diarrhea, etc... The question is: will you contaminate others while farting and how to put the mask.

One month ago was quite literally a different world in terms of the coronavirus situation.
This crisis has evolved at such a huge speed that you can probably find incriminating statements from most politicians, and also lots of public health experts, if you look back one month. Hindsight is 20/20.

If Kushner repeated this assessment today, then your outrage would be justified.

It's an absolutely dumb criticism to think that a person in China would of somehow given us some brilliant insight and magically things would be different if only this mystical god figure CDC person was able to warn us. We probably have spies in China where we got most of our intelligence on fake numbers.

There are valid criticisms like Trump didn't act on that Intel in a timely manner and then there is low iq ones like this one which i have no problem defending Trump on.

Decided to look it up

1.He didn't fire the top pandemic expert, the guy resigned and wasn't replaced.

2. He actually hasn't reduced funding to the CDC. He wanted to but congress eventually passed bills increasing CDC funding and Trump signed them both times.

Your ability to do research on a topic on which people are criticizing the trump admin was sadly predictable. Though i do find it surprising you see anything at all trump could be criticized for, what do you think he should have done or not done?

Here's the story:
https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/387191-trump-official-overseeing-pandemic-response-suddenly-leaves-admin
https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/487581-bolton-defends-decision-to-shutter-nsc-pandemic-office
https://www.newsweek.com/former-head-white-house-pandemic-office-says-united-states-less-prepared-after-closure-1492337

Assigning responsibility for a move is not a road that leads to any satisfying conclusion. John Bolton ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Bolton#Tenure ) was the one directly responsible for dissolving the team.

Whatever extent someone wants to blame Trump for his decision is completely subjective. Ofc the "orange man bad" crowd is going to blame Trump completely.

Articles can word things in a misleading way to support whatever narrative they want. We don't have access to the context of that situation, but there's no doubt that the team was dissolved. It wasn't a matter of "a guy resigning".

Bolton was part of the trump admin. Then again I'm not surprised that the guy who defends cops over shooting puppies wont hold trump accountable for his appointments.

He told the governor he was wrong and that he knew better. You will rationalize anything. You're unique here as a user on JSP because i have to read what you say because you're smart but you are so intellectually compromised on Trump for some reason you just cannot be rational when it comes to him.

One month ago they were saying it is a hoax.
Today they did not minimize and take no responsibility.

If that isn't enough to make you reconsider your support...

...battered housewife.

You're being silly if you seriously think that people should stop supporting Trump because of one dubious decision. And just to reiterate this: I am not a fan of Kushner at all, and dont like seeing him entrusted with a major role on the coronavirus response.
