States decide how to get on ballots. Any decision besides a 9-0 upholding the law is an attack on states rights and is nothing but a big government partisan power grab.

Sure it is

Those goalposts huh

What goal posts?

Nominee Franklin D. Roosevelt Alf Landon
Party Democratic Republican
Home state New York Kansas
Running mate John Nance Garner Frank Knox
Electoral vote 523 8
States carried 46 2
Popular vote 27,747,636 16,679,543
Percentage 60.8% 36.5%

11 million votes and 515 electoral votes.
46 states to 2 states.
What is this if trump had a "landslide"?
Keep in mind the population is also a lot higher now.
This is what a landslide victory looks like.
Trump had a land trickle.

what about if we go by the popular vote?

small-timer wants the small-time metric

sure, and I totally agree that his win was epic when considering the circumstances and how little chances most everyone was giving him.

but it was not a landslide. neither if we go by the margin in the tipping point state, nor if we go by the margin in the electoral college.

hillary wins by that electoral count everyone calls it a landslide

Ill say the same for you

You were wrong. Get over it.

Uh, what? That makes no sense.

And wrong about what? The people who criticized Trump during the campaign were right... he's been a joke as president. Sure, the tax cuts have given a jolt to the economy, and he's stayed disciplined on judicial appointments(thanks Cocaine Mitch), but practically every day is an Onion headline, except it's real.

I think deep down even Trump supporters like yourself know he's been somewhat of a disappointment as president. You can always fall back on the economy and owning the libs, but he's an embarrassing, incompetent figurehead of the right-wing populist movement. If you actually care about these ideas long term, you'd want a leader who could win people over.

Sure we'd all like someone with more pizazz, but the choices were him or Hillary. IMO, we lucked out and got Trump.

Irrelevant because the race was not fought for the popular vote. Neither campaign tried to maximize its popular vote share, and we dont know how such a race for the popular vote would have played out. Would Trump have made up more votes by campaigning in California, New York and Illinois than Hillary could have gotten by campaigning in Texas? We simply dont know.

Hard to tell

Because conservatives especially older ones are very reliable voters so even in blue states with the "our vote doesnt matter anyway" mentality they still vote so one could say a lot that would show up already showed up

However I have to learn towards he would do significantly better in areas that do have the above mentality even with a reliable base

I really never understood the point of this back and forth anyway. The dude won fair and square and he beat a political machine with a rag tag group of circus performers. Number landslide or not it was a helluva victory and should be a lesson to complacent and cocky Democrats not something to make excuses for
