A top 3 world cardiac surgeon & professor for a role in Medicare?

Totally not qualified!

Being a surgeon and a professor does not make you qualified for this position.

Here's a great excerpt from the conservative sub on reddit:

This is a man who built his entire career on peddling pseudoscience, miracle cures, and outright quackery to millions of vulnerable Americans. He's a charlatan and a snake oil salesman, plain and simple.

Let's not forget that Dr. Oz has been called out time and again for promoting bogus weight loss supplements, fake cancer treatments, and all manner of medical misinformation. He's been hauled before Congress to answer for his deceptive advertising practices, and he's been condemned by the medical community for putting profits ahead of patient welfare.

And now we're supposed to trust him to oversee two of the most important healthcare programs in the country? Programs that millions of seniors, low-income families, and people with disabilities rely on for their basic medical needs? It's an absolute travesty.

But of course, this is what happens when we allow money and special interests to corrupt our politics. Dr. Oz isn't being tapped for this role because of his medical expertise or his commitment to public health. He's being rewarded for his loyalty to a political agenda that puts the profits of Big Pharma and the healthcare industry ahead of the needs of everyday Americans. And I say this as someone who is extremely happy and excited for a Trump Administration.

It's the same old story of cronyism and corruption that we've seen play out time and again in Washington. And it's exactly why so many Americans have lost faith in our government and our institutions.

If we want to restore trust and integrity to our healthcare system, we need to start by appointing leaders who are committed to science, evidence, and the public good - not celebrity hucksters and industry shills like Dr. Oz.

Don't know much about this but this is from doing a quick google search:

He subsequently began his residency in surgery at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in 1986. In 2001, Oz became a professor of surgery at Columbia University, and later retired to professor emeritus in 2018.

So the guy who was a professor of surgery at a top Ivy league school for 17 years is not qualified? Columbia is also considered a top medical school btw. Just curious, if these credentials aren't impressive enough, who do you recommend?

Dr Fauci.

But to be fair, I don't think Oz is a great pick personally. But he is good for optics.

I mean like i said i don't know enough about the guy to feel strongly for or against, but he is clearly qualified based on his background and credentials. Just because he is a TV personality doesn't somehow nullify his 17 years of teaching at a top medical school.

Quoting reddit? lol

He ran a succesful show for years, providing health advice (always advocating healthy habits) and peddling little mostly probably useless things, but gave comfort and joy to many many people. On top of being a surgeon & professor.
