It being an obvious harrassment tactic

And if the right or trump were to do it they would be accused of inciting violence

Lots of information is public that doesnt mean gathering that info and sending the Twitter mob out there to harass individuals for their personal voting and donations is ok

This. And it's particularly gross because those people are his constituents. If it was just some left-wing activist on Twitter it wouldn't be as offensive.

I disagree that it's necessarily A harassment tactic. If those places are in heavily conservative areas it's just as likely to get the more business as less

business is like 1/10th of the situation. you have death threads to worry about, a constant stream of social media harassment, and even the threat of protests outside of your house. it's not very hard to find where someone lives with just a name.

There is a homemaker on the list and a bunch of retired people

Those are just random individuals at home that are now on a list used to invite and incite harrassment for their personal donations

That's some bullshit that trump and Republicans would get slammed on for doing and Democrats that do it should face the same criticism

// the media would be releasing an interview with every rand on that list willing to tell a sob story about it if trump and a trump friendly Republican did it to Democrats

The homemaker and her story

The retired people and their stories

The self employed people wrecked by it

Politicians on both sides have an obligation to not participate in these types of tactics against citizens and on top of that constituents dafuq

So just as an example How could somebody call for a public boycott of people funding political opponents without it being a harassment tactic? Boycotts and social pressure are undeniably a valid mechanism of social pressure to me so how can it be done without it specifically being a harassment tactic?

i think boycotts should exist for corporations, or for smaller businesses when the owner is personally culpable of gross misconduct. i dont consider a max contribution to a political campaign to be gross misconduct, as it's legal.

but what's the purpose of a mechanism against donors? to pressure them into not donating in 2020? that's not exactly comparable to boycotting a business to get the business to change a policy. its boycotting a business to get the owner/employee to not contribute to their chosen candidate.

so i'd say comparison to corporate boycotts fails on 2 important fronts.

https://twitter.com/Castro4Congress/status/1158576680182718464

Joaquin Castro(the one not running for president) posted a graphic including the names and employers of people(from the district he represents!) who donated the maximum amount to the Trump campaign in 2019.

Pathetic stuff. And what's even worse are all the mainstream and left-wing figures on Twitter defending this because it's public information.

His district is so blue that a Republican didn't even RUN against him. Why would you call out your OWN constituents like that? Yes, the information is public but 99% of people are too fucking lazy to look it up. People in positions of power really shouldn't do this.

WASHINGTON — President Trump said on Wednesday night that he was “strongly considering” commuting the 14-year prison sentence of Rod R. Blagojevich, the former Illinois governor who was convicted of trying to essentially sell President Barack Obama’s vacated Senate seat for personal gain.

In remarks aboard Air Force One, Mr. Trump described the incriminating phone call in which Mr. Blagojevich, a Democrat, was taped discussing selling the seat as mostly a minor offense and something “many” politicians have done.

The move is likely to face steep blowback, since Mr. Blagojevich’s crime has long been seen as the epitome of the kind of pay-to-play that Mr. Trump has claimed he wanted to stop when he took office.

This is what the forgotten men and women of Michigan and Pennsylvania were yearning for in 2016... someone to help out corrupt Democrat politicians. The Trump crowds will have to change the "drain the swamp" chants to "everybody is corrupt, so pardon the ones who have family members who appear on Fox News".
