If they can work this to where it doesn't create shortages for Canadians, this is a positive:

This is great news if they can implement it safely and effectively. I’m against excessively high healthcare costs, allowing cheaper prescription drugs from Canada will help alleviate some of this.

Cheapest option to stave off universal healthcare for sure. take the "overpriced drugs" narrative right out of play. def a good step regardless of political perspective.

Republicans are shit at the economy. They say uneducated things like tax cuts grow the economy and deny the existence of externalities etc. My favorite is when they said the riots in Ferguson were caused by high taxes lol.

Even if the drugs are cheaper the insurance companies will deny pre authorization and tell the physician to prescribe a drug that their company is a linked to through shareholders.

Yes if you have commercial insurance your health insurance tells the doctor what to prescribe Unless you want to pay out of network cost.

The Chief Executive officers of nonprofits tend to be social workers. My job title is utilization review manager and I work a lot on the business end. The care episodes I run are several thousand dollars a day. To be responsible for millions of dollars you have to know a little bit about economics.

What I do as microeconomic because it's running a business, But I'm not real green in the macro stuff.

My graduate degree was focused on macro practice and social welfare administration not direct practice.

I'm not as good at therapy at some of my peers but I make sure the hospital gets paid for hospitalizations.

My expertise is actually in moving bodies between levels of care.

As cool as all of that is, it doesn't really sound like something that would understand how the entirety of macro economics works at a state and periodical level. I'm not saying I know either, just that you shouldn't call and entire group of people stupid because some of them probably have the same ideas as you do.
