I agree with the broader message, but I'm not so sure about the bolded part.
Trump chose to go for the shutdown over the border wall, and it was an unmitigated disaster for him, politically.
He was also the one urging his party in the summer of 2017 to try again with the Obamcare repeal, despite a previous attempt having already failed. He pushed for this "win" even though it was already crystal clear at that point that the attempt would cause his own party's caucus to reach a breaking point, and that it was highly unpopular with the public.
none of it matters anyway it's all just so people can post and report on and go back and forth as if any of it really changes anything
economy good he wins economy looking bad he's in trouble
He's shown he's not gonna destroy the world and that overall he's mostly just a shitposting center-to-right- republican that hasn't "ruined the social fabric" he just showed a reflection of it and that pretty much sets him up to win barring an economy tank
also the "left has gone crazy" narrative is effective. The right can go a helluva lot farther with some fringe over the top video than the left can.
He can pretty much do everything other than piss off the base (which would be very very hard for him to do) and he just cruises in there
especially with Biden obviously being on the chopping block and Clinton 2.0 gonna be the candidate
