Ah yes, "Democrats oppose it," which must be why Maryland was one of the two states whose gerrymandering was just ruled on by the Supreme Court. And stop acting as if the Supremes ruled the way they did because they "like" gerrymandering and its effects. You're obviously ignorant of the fact that the cases left no good pathway to constructing a precedent setting rule.

you clueless dolt, they used a democratic state and a republican state to make it less partisan. the facts about who benefits significantly more from gerrymandering are clear though. i can just point them out to you, i can't read, understand, and acknowledge them for you. yes, democrats largely oppose it, while republicans largely don't. sorry if you can't accept this truth, but your denial doesn't change it.

Please, most of the last century was a Democrat clinic on gerrymandering, but when Republicans struck back after winning a wave election in 2010, it's suddenly "a problem."

When the Democrats win huge in 2020, you're going to see one thing happen: they're going to redistrict Republicans back into the wilderness. Not enact gerrymandering reform.

not only is that factually incorrect, it's also a shitty excuse. but it's still funny to see you pivot from 'it's not official policy, so it doesn't count' to 'both do it, so it's equal' to 'it's simply our turn to benefit from it, and that's why it's good'...

what you're forgetting in your desperate attempt to make excuses for your corrupt leaders is that the topic of this conversation is that americans largely oppose it, so with your latest rationalisation you're admitting that republicans clearly act against the opinion of voters across both parties. thanks for playing though...

amuse me, what do you think that graphic proves about partisan gerrymandering?

you already (inadvertently) admitted what i suggested about partisan gerrymandering, now you're just trying to muddy the waters at all cost to change the conversation. pathetic.

while it would indeed be sweet justice, i would still oppose it. gerrymandering is undemocratic and shitty politics, no matter who profits from it. see, that's the difference between us, you try to justify what ever your 'team' does, while i am principled on the issues.
that said, i wouldn't put it beyond corporate democrats like biden or harris to do exactly that. a president sanders or warren would certainly be more principled on the issue.

It is well understood in academic circles that Congressional district compactness significantly worsened in the 1960s. https://www.vanderbilt.edu/csdi/events/ansolabehere_palmer_gerrymander.pdf

Note the much larger shares of representation in the US House (sometimes approaching the 70th percentile) starting in that era relative to the share of the US House that Republicans held in the 2010s.

Could you point out my post where I condone gerrymandering? There's a difference in understanding when there's comeuppance, and condoning the practice. I do not now, nor have I ever condoned gerrymandering. But I understand it.

Almost no one in elected federal office acts strictly upon principle. It's going to happen, mark my words. I can't wait to ridicule Democrats over their feigned indignance and pending hypocrisy.
