Did you read the DPD tweet? It specifically said that the officer was terminated during a hearing held on Monday, September 24, 2018. That's today.

just fired no jail time thats pretty fucking sad. pretty much manslaughter and she just looses her job.

Yeah, you're right. I checked other news sources. NPR just worded it badly?

That's just the department's own action. The district attorney has already filed manslaughter charges against her. Those don't go away without court action, which hasn't happened yet.
