I never said they weren't... but there's a reason the discourse has lowered. If Jeb Bush was elected president I don't think Colbert and Bee would've made those same comments. And if they did, they would be fired immediately.

They wouldn’t make such comments because they wouldn’t have a free pass to say whatever they want. Trump made a bunch of unprofessional comments, both before and after being elected, but everyone else chose to lower their standards.

I’m just saying that Trump is not responsible for lowering the discourse. People will use what you call being ‘undignified and mean-spirited’ to do the same themselves. They’re still responsible for what they say and and it doesn’t make it ‘okay’.

If everyone is driving 80 in a 70 zone and you decide to do the same, you’re still responsible for the ticket you’ll get.
