the LGBT laws in Iran don't seem that liberally minded here

did you not read the comment in parentheses?
btw, outside intervention ensured that iran has now a conservative/fundamentalist government

and what does the bible and the torah say about the subject?
the sophisticated interpretation now is that both judge homosexual acts and not homosexuals
ie just putting a thin veneer on the rampant hatred

Yes, fundamental Christianity/Judaism is also abhorrent but not as widely practiced as Islam.

I am not the one changing their identity, the Quran is.

No it isn't, you're just stuck with this foolish consistency. The President of Iran said there were no gay people in his country when speaking in Columbia. People laughed at him. That is what you sound like here.

I am saying you cannot be true to the Quran and be gay, not that you cannot identify as a Muslim and be gay.

/e by be gay I mean have homosexual relationships if this distinction is important

I understand what you are saying. You're just wrong.

Neither the Quran, Bible, or Torah demand infallibility from their followers. You don't have to be the perfect Muslim to be a Muslim. You just have to be a Muslim to be a Muslim.

That's just wrong.
Christians believe in salvation by grace/faith alone. Good acts are an outcome of receiving grace.
Muslims believe in salvation through acts, on the day of judgement allah will whiegh the good vs the bad in your life.

Catholicism is the largest Christian denomination, and it holds that faith without works is insufficient.

Doing 49 units of bad and 51 units of good gets you saved but is far from perfect.

Not to mention these units would probably be arbitrary. It's a non-informative fun fact that deeds are what warrant salvation. It's essentially like what Skinned said, being Muslim is just about being Muslim and nobody can be perfect.
