The New York case was bogus, a flagrantly politically motivated witch hunt by an overambitious young DA. Legally speaking, it was about as weak a case as you can get.
The classified documents case, on the other hand, is the real deal in the sense that 1) the underlying crime is far more serious and 2) the evidence seems overwhelming and airtight.

They have him on tape admitting to showing the documents to people and saying it's classified and can't declassified it now that he's not pres.
Dudes fucked.
He had them in a fucking bathroom.
I can tell you people aren't exactly Constitutional scholars. To begin, the President has supreme authority over these documents, he could declassify anything and no one could stop him. There is no accountability, he has supreme authority. He can say "The moment these documents were placed outside the White House, they were declassified." And no one can do anything because his authority on this cannot be challenged. The State Department, CIA, FBI, they are all below the President. They can not demand he turn over documents. No agency or process can restrain his ability to possess these documents and display them at will to any audience.
Secondly, upon leaving the White House, the items he took are now his personal possessions. The President has sole authority to determine what his and how he will keep it. I'm sure someone already brought up President Clinton's sock drawer tapes that everyone on radio and television has mentioned. The documents belong to the former President and the government has no business seizing them. They should be returned to the former President and everyone involved should be fired for violating his Fourth Amendment Right.
As far as obstruction goes, how is refusing to turn over items the government has zero authority to demand obstruction? If the hardest thing you have is a process crime, I'm very disappointed. However, I wouldn't be surprised if this was the crux of the argument, you have nothing else to go on. I for one applaud President Trump, how can anyone be surprised he's not willing to cooperate with a Justice Department/FBI that has done nothing but try to ruin him since day one.
Anyone who thinks this is good has their lips firmly secured to the members of deep state spooks. The FBI and CIA are mad? Tough. They have zero legitimacy and in a sane nation they would be abolished. A democratically elected President has more authority than these deep state goons, by design. The same people who murdered the Kennedys are coming for another foolish enough to challenge them. Chuck Schumer warned Trump of this very early on, "Don't cross the intel agencies or they'll find six way yada yada". Any American who thinks the Intel Agencies should exercise authority over the President is a retard (I'm talking specifically about IceMage
