What the person does in the job isn't relevant. If they do their job, follow the law, act honorably, but inconvenience Trump because their actions exposed his corrupt behavior, they become part of the swamp. Everyone in government is supposed to abandon all principles and ethics if it enables the Dear Leader.

Not at all. Trump walked into the presidency with, for example, a State Dept. that instead of doing what they were supposed to do... did w/e the fuck they wanted. Same with the Intelligence folk.
They are "supposed" to be working FOR the president. Hell, even before Trump was elected the Intelligence Dept. was declaring Russia as the one messing with the election. Wasn't true.

Trump says to his State Dept.: "go do this and this", and the State Dept. just ignores the POTUS and does whatever they want.

trump might go down as the most brazenly corrupt, and certainly the most incompetent and objectively stupid president, but if this election cycle has demonstrated one thing, it's that the system has successfully brainwashed even enough young-ish people into rationalising corruption as just 'smooth policy making', claiming that because the average citizen doesn't have a detailed understanding of lawmaking, it's perfectly ok that corporations provide their representatives with legislation ready to sign and implement, and that rejecting that system is just 'radical', 'pie in the sky', and 'socialist'.

if anything, kids in 50 years might be wondering why trump's brazenness wasn't a wake up call for their grandparents, when it was still possible to change the system without a violent revolution...

The two biggest tells are the Chinese response (Why would the Chinese hide their numbers?/Censor journalists? if they had nothing to hide) (Also how did the Chinese know what to look for in the initial RT-PCR/Northern Blot tests on the first patients?/ They could only get that information from a laboratory that studied the virus)
