No Cathy thats not what im saying

none of those countries are socialist, and their existence does not erase the failures and fundamental flaws of socialism or the successes and benefits of economic freedom.

Literally no one here is advocating what you call socialism, yet you keep bringing up democratic socialist countries as if they are the same thing, then you say its not the same thing..
Hate to be called anti intellectual but i find you confusing.

No. You could compare the US to Australia, the EU, South America, China, Russia, India, the middle east, etc. <--- all are large geopolitical entities that pretty much... stand alone.

But you can't compare the US to Norway. Take away the EU and Norway would be gone in about 2 weeks. Same for South Carolina and the US. You need to make comparisons between various geopolitical entities that are similar, that have similar problems to deal with... etc.
And when you do make comparisons, you have to compare... everything about the two entities.

Ok well compare to australia, second richest nation on earth for citizens, free healthcare, heavily subsidised education, economy thrives under progressives and slides under neo liberals.

You missed the part where I said you had to compare... "everything".

Let's take Australia's asylum/immigration policies for starters. Then we can work from there.

/e Next up after Australia's immigration laws, we will move on to population density.

Population density of Australia = 1.2 persons per square mile.

population density of the US = 92.63 per sq. mile.

/e Next up will be mineral deposits.

Just measure nation wealth per capita, the only relevant statistic.

All else being equal... sure. :)

That was my point on the previous page. You can't cherry pick which stats to use for comparison.

/e Btw, post # 30501 is where all the cool pics are, which started all this.

Sure you can, because anything else doesn't matter, the social safety net would only apply to citizens.
