You're right that the changes of 2020 are just an incremental continuation of the things that have been happening even before me. Cars, guns, factories, furnaces. Machines have been increasingly carrying the weight for humanity. And that's why, as I mentioned a few times, my observation is just because I am getting older and the world is passing me by. The next generations will come to rely on machines to do their thinking for them, which seems like a major violation by the standards of my upbringing. I'm just describing the realization I had tonight about why there is so many feelings of doom around this election. I'm nostalgic for the 90's now. And one day, as weird as it sounds, I'm going to be nostalgic for 2019 because it was pre-covid and I wasn't yet worrying about the issues surrounding the 2020 election.
