oh, there are plenty of democrats i can see opposing it for political reasons. having a secure and solid political majority for their alleged goals goes firmly against the actual interests of the party and the people on whose behalf the democratic establishment makes politics.
as long as the republican party can be perceived as a realistic threat, there will always be an excuse for dems to 'compromise' (do nothing) and not give in to 'radical' demands of the 'fringe left' (like adequate worker protection, family leave, universal healthcare, properly taxing billionaires and corporations, affordable education, liveably wages, or accountability to the people, and not the donor class).

so realistically i think you're right, it will not happen - that doesn't mean it is right to withhold representation from that many people though.
