grinding meat makes it more flavorful. you cut fat off a steak, in burger the fat is uniformly distributed. also 93-7 is basically turkey burger, aka cardboard trash :rofl: give me 70-30

It's all preference anyways.

Not to mention that steak has marbling, which inherently has the fat in a good proportion. It's why those Kobe/Wagyu beef burgers are so dumb, the meat is already marbled.

I suspect that if we argue about cuisine this sub might become more toxic than when the subject is politics. :rofl:

Only sissy men cut the fat off a steak. Cooking it, uniformly distributes the taste of the fat.

I'm speaking of inedible fat. well unless you're a wierdo. the "fat cap" as its typically called. it's trimmed off before you cook the steak when you slice them from a whole animal. hamburger cuts are more fatty anyhow, and all of it goes in the grinder. its the reason hte meat is lighter pink than if you grind a steak. there's more fat in hambuger typically than any steak other than kobe/wagyu which i find really gross tbh. a good porterhouse rare beats that overly fatty stuff. and on a flattop there's not much fat seepage on a burger, it sears on the outside of the burger itself, thats the classic dinner crispy outside preparation and the best. when i grill i use a cast iron skillet on the grill while i cook brats or w/e normally.

we can't even talk about bread without it getting toxic lol. we have sugar bread which the rest of the world seems to view as a crime! i prefer a more hearty bread normally but i do like classic white bread for many things.

THIS

steak has fat, hamburger has more fat that you eat.

fat = flavor

93-7 has very little flavor, even compared to a steak, which has less flavor than high fat burger.

edit: but its also about how you cook the burger, as the fat isn't inherently going to stay in it. but when its 7% its gone in any case. people make the same mistakes with steaks, not resting them and/or not letting them come to room temp before cooking them.

I can only talk from my perspective, but in my eyes American cuisine is very much focused on the extremes. The whole portion sizes are bigger meme is true but not as true as it used to be (for soft drinks it's still incredibly true). I ate very well in the US, but for my tastes the food is flavoured too strongly. And there does exist a reliance on sugar for condiments or other things.

I guess the most obvious example is American Italian vs Italian cuisine. American Italian has so much garlic, cheese, and even sugar in some of the sauces. Italian cuisine is incredibly simple and rustic.

All you need is a bucket of lard and a spoon right?

70/30 is really soft, and not easily shaped. Too soft for juicy Lucys and smash patties. Just fine for really plump burgers, but I'm less partial to rare burgers, unlike steaks.

Yup. Fat free = taste free.

Donald Trump criticisms of people's food choices tangent. We'll be back to AOC bashing in a few moments...
