That's unsubstantiated. You could have covid19 right now. Have you had a blood test performed lately?

Read my edited response to his edited response in post 3028. It's next to impossible to know how many people have it.

Does not matter, it's clear to everyone with a brain that COVID-19 overwhelms hospitals already at the early stages of the outbreak. This is something entirely different than the flu.

The flu overwhelms hospitals every year as well.

Listen, I'm not arguing that covid19 isn't something to watch. But the facts as we have them right now do NOT indicate that it's worse than the Flu. And this rush to judgement is destroying the economy, and is based mostly on unsubstantiated conjecture.

This "everyone with a brain" shit is just more nonsense. The media has told you to be afraid, so you're afraid. "China is lying about their numbers! Iran is lying about their numbers! Everyone is lying, it's worse way worse so much worse!" Why not sit back and wait for facts prior to casting judgement here?

Some facts:
1. COVID19 behaves like a cold in most people who get it.
2. People with colds seldom get blood tests.
3. They can't accurately diagnose covid19 without a blood test.
4. There is no standardized, accurate, fast "at home" blood test (yet).
5. It is impossible to know how many people have covid19 due to lack of testing.
6. All estimates of lethality rates are simple guesses, due to not knowing how many have it.
7. Data on those who died, including age, previous health issues, substance use, etc. has not been released since early February.

Now, given that I DO have a brain, I tend to think that seeing some hard data is required prior to jumping to the conclusions the media wants to force upon us. They've proven time and again that they aren't above creating news. And during this "social distancing" they're making quite the ratings. :)

Yep. Even though I googled world flu deaths 2020, I got US deaths. :/

/e There's 10x as many global flu deaths, but they also say that covid-19 is 10x more deadly.

Because US is the new disease epicenter, and few days ago you claimed US will not have more than 20k deaths.

Just FYI, I was in SE Asia in December 2019 and January 2020. I've seen how the novel corona virus made headlines and people started using masks while on western news channels the whole matter was seen as something that happened in China. When I flew back home from Bangkok at the end of January there was military at the airport checking every traveler temperature and masks everywhere. Then you arrive home and they've done NOTHING. No restrictions, no masks, noone checking travelers.

I made this topic about corona virus, it was closed ^^ https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=82574738&f=119
Check the date and the poll results. Vast majority of PARD proven wrong.

There was a reason China locked down and build mega hospitals in record time. That there are still people like you who don't understand this situation boggles the mind. Hopeless.

At this stage you are more an anomaly than "the media" itself

I'm confused about why you think I don't understand what's going on? Can you refute a single fact I listed? I'm not telling you this thing is purely harmless, or anything along those lines. But let's address a few more facts, shall we?

1. The virus has traveled the world. It's in every country, on every continent with the exception of Antarctica.
2. There are some 7.5 Billion people between all those countries.
3. While there have been just under a million confirmed cases, only a few million have been tested.
4. Numerous articles and many doctors are claiming that due to the time it takes to test, testing is primarily being focused on those who exhibit not just "cold symptoms" but severe symptoms, especially respiratory.
5. When you're only testing the people you feel pretty sure have something, AND they're the more severe cases, you're likely to score pretty high on the confirmation bias scorecard.
6. Until those with mild or no symptoms are tested at an equal rate to those exhibiting symptoms, it's not knowable how lethal the virus actually is.

It's all rather simple logic mate. Perhaps it's as bad as you say. Perhaps not. For now, based on the facts we have at hand, Flu is worse. That may change, but no matter how many times you tell me "The Sky Is Falling!" I'm not going to take you on your word. :)

Keep denying reality bro. Explains why murica got over 200k confirmed cases in like no delay lmao.

Point 1, 2 and 3.
Yes the virus has showed up everywhere and hospitals reported a flood of cases coming in. Which is why countries took measures to slow the spread. Not everyone is tested because of lack of testing kits and labs / lab workers. We're talking huge numbers obviously.

Point 4, 5 and 6.
It's established that many mild or even asymptomatic cases exist but that does not help those that have serious complications, specifically severe pneumonia cases that overwhelm the ICU. Because the hospitals are already overwhelmed at the early stages means it's serous.

I don't say this is the end of the world, nobody says that. But I would rather not catch this bug, would you?
Social distancing is the right measure while they're working on medication or a vaccine.

We're a big place. It's too bad we weren't better prepared for the testing phase. I was expecting 5m+ confirmed cases by now. That bad batch of tests early on really screwed our ability to accurately diagnose.

There's still no denial of reality though. If anything, I've just been nodding along with all of it. In late January when they were talking about how it was "contained" I took one look at the data and said, "Nope! Dormancy is too long, it escaped China before they knew they had a problem. Bets!" In early February when they were talking about how it hadn't hit the US yet I was pointing at the NW saying, "Wrong again!" When they said mid February that we had it contained I patiently explained that no, it's already in all states. Just wait, they'll figure it out.

Why? I followed the prediction model of the common cold. It has spread like every other common cold. Which is part of why I suspect that once they get a fast, easy, and accurate home testing method in place, they'll find that the number of infections is many MANY times higher, all across the world than what they're claiming. Should that prediction be accurate, then the lethality rate is much MUCH lower than what they're claiming.

But, it's just a prediction. And I'm not insisting it's correct. I'm merely waiting to see.

That's an interesting question. Frankly yes. I'd like to catch it. If I survive it, then the next/mutated strain that is even worse will be less of a concern, as my likelihood of either immunity or resistance would be higher.

But I'm not afraid of colds. *shrug*

Many times more ? maybe 2x more at best, people without symptoms are a minority of people. And it still makes it 10/20x deadlier than any flu, and much more contagious than flu. and keep in mind it could mutates over the years into something more dangerous.
I still dont know what to think about it, good or bad thing ? I mean less activity is good for environment, then you take into account that less pollution equals less deaths amongst population = even more humans and more activity once it's gone.
And if thats not enough to learn the lesson, be aware that the virus is more active in polluted areas.
Think I just need to go oustide
