To be fair, the gender split among Republicans is larger than among Democrats: Republican men lean to capitalism over socialism by +77, Republican women by just +48, for a gender difference of 29 points. Among Democrats, the gender difference is just 13 points.

this only proves
high estrogen = communists
high testosterone = capitalists

According to a recent Pew study:

A majority of Democrats have a more positive impression of socialism than of capitalism, which implies that they prefers socialism over capitalism:

Only about one third of whites has a positive impression of socialism, but two thirds of blacks and a majority of hispanics:

Also note the split in the impression of socialism by education: socialism is most popular with people who have a postgrad education. At the same time, support for capitalism goes as expected with respect to both education and income, with those earning more and/or having a higher education showing stronger support. Support for socialism goes down with increasing income, as expected. The true outlier is the high support for socialism among the postgrads.

Put together, this indicates that support for socialism is probably particularly strong among those who have a high formal education but a comparatively low income. Not sure if the numbers differences are really significant though.

And the preference for socialism over capitalism among Democrats is largely driven by women and young folks:

I imagine those groups all had wildly different conceptions of what "socialism" is, and probably inside the groups as well.

Socialism has basically become a meaningless word in American discourse if left on it's own.

lol yeah I saw where people are literally blaming the president for their deaths, as if Trump is like some kind of Loch Ness monster of the Rio Grande and dragged them into the water.

Some keep saying they were fleeing violence etc., seeking asylum in the US, even though the man's mother, who lived with them, flat-out said they weren't fleeing violence and he just wanted more money for a bigger house. Shit, if that's all it takes to warrant asylum status to people, the whole world can just move right it. Again, these aren't rational people we're dealing with, they're deranged people.

"SAN MARTÍN, El Salvador — Rosa Ramírez pleaded with her son, urging him not to leave El Salvador and head north with his wife and young daughter. The risks were simply too high.

He saw no other choice. Their neighborhood was controlled by a gang that enriched itself through drug-dealing, extortion and violence. But most pressing of all, Ms. Ramírez said, they could barely make ends meet on their jobs at fast-food restaurants, and had pinned their hopes on making it to the United States.

They never did."

"It remains unclear how the Martínez family intended to argue their case for asylum, or whether they even understood the legal basis for gaining such protection. Mr. Martínez’s wife, Ms. Ávalos, did not respond to requests for an interview."

In their working-class neighborhood of about 40,000, Martínez worked in a pizzeria and Ávalos as a cashier in a fast-food restaurant, Ramírez said.

The area has had problems with gang violence but these days it’s calm, she said, adding that he never had any problems with gangs — they left for economic reasons.

Ramírez said that she had given them the big room in the two-bedroom house, but they dreamed of saving money for a place of their own and that drove the family to head for the United States in early April.

“I told him, ‘Son, don’t go. But if you do go, leave me the girl,’” Ramírez said.

Kinda shocking to see this on the HuffPost of all places.

And let's entertain your fantasy world anyway. Let's say they were "fleeing" gang violence. Should that now be reason enough to break another country's laws and endanger a child? By that reasoning, people in Chicago should be allowed to walk north and illegally invade Canada.
