For a refresher: A black guy tried to buy wine from a bakery using a fake ID. The white clerk refused, and the black guy tried to run out the door and shoplift the wine (but dropped it). The clerk chased him, only for the black guy and two buddies to turn and gang up on him, beating him and hitting him while he's on the ground. But days later as the story got attention in the media, black lives matter protesters surrounded the bakery and accused them of racial profiling and racism. The dean of students at the school published an official flier saying the bakery had a 'history of racial profiling' and urged a boycott, devastating their business. The college's deans and professors joined in the protest, supplied the protesters with free food and drink, suspended classes so they could join the protests and even attempted for a while to hide the fake ID used by the student after the police boneheadedly gave it to them. Like, the police thought they could assuage the mob by showing them the fake ID to prove it wasn't a case of racism, and they then tried to
hide the ID until they got threatened with criminal obstruction charges. A trustee for the college even paid for the lawyer of the assailants and their expenses at trial.
The bakers were awarded $11,200,000 and the punishment phase hasn't begun yet.
