I was pretty much unbullyable in high school and middle school. I didn't care, and when somebody got physical I fought back. Most bullies start to cry when you fight back, which is why I don't respect conservatives. They're cry bullies. If they can't oppress you they cry about how hard life is and how they're just being bullied by the people who they are trying to bully.

I understand your argument. It's just stupid. You're defending Republicans allying themselves with fascists because they were called fascists. Guess if they were so willing to align with fascists.... the criticism was accurate lol

Maybe its optimism on my part

But wouldn't you have rather been in a [current year] where 'political threat' of true fascism is fringe / minimal? Wouldn't you rather have persuaded some of those 'republicans willing to align with fascists' into an even more moderate stance?

I ask again (maybe in vain), but what did you expect to achieve with this approach?

I truly believe you wouldn't be facing the same 'threat' had you taken another approach. So far you have failed to convince me otherwise; "its just stupid" "they are no different than fascist themselves"

Internet personas are truly a thing of care. Don't get emotionally attached and you'll be fine.

Literally the argument you're making

Again, I think you need to go back to the explanation that Biden described in his speech. According to polling, it's roughly 25% of Republicans who "approve" of what happened on Jan 6. You can nitpick all you want but you have to understand that Republicans are ALWAYS going find reason to be upset. You can find elected officials crying about how "half the country was labeled domestic terrorists" or "half the country committed treason." As for the movement itself, I'm not sure what else to call something where if you win, it's legitimate, but if you lose, it's rigged. How would you define such a principle? As for the vast majority of Republicans preferring fascism over liberalism, that's fine. If they are so repulsed by what Democrats stand for and/or support Trumpism then we need to live with it. We get the government that we deserve. You can only do so much convincing.

What could Republicans have done? Is this a serious question? After Trump lost the election, they could have cast him away as a loser. After Jan 6, they could have cast him away as a fascist. Hell, they could cast him away NOW over the stolen defense information. It's not like there is a void either. They could literally use DeSantis to "own the libs!" The GOP and right wing media is so tight-knit that they could easily blanket the media with coverage on why Trump was successful but he is no longer the right person to lead the party.

Lastly, you're drawing a false equivalence between Democrats and Republicans on what is a Republican issue. It's one thing for Dems to stupidly fund a handful of insane candidates. It's another thing to, you know, VOTE FOR THEM and like what they have to say. I'm going to repeat this again: Democrats and Republicans are NOT monoliths. There are Democrats who are willing to roll the dice when it comes to these issues and there are Democrats (the majority) who think it's completely unacceptable. Likewise, there are plenty of Republicans who accept Joe Biden as legitimate (this is more of a spectrum but if you have the cut off as 'did Joe Biden win the electoral college' then it's a vast majority).

You've gotten turned the wrong way around. The Republican position is the liberal position. Republicans believe in the MLK to late 2000s consensus of a colorblind society. The Democratic party champions 1930s race essentialism. Republicans champion free speech, whereas the present administration actively violates the 1st Amendment by coercing social media companies to enforce administration positions (https://www.wsj.com/articles/twitter-becomes-a-tool-of-government-censors-alex-berenson-twitter-facebook-ban-covid-misinformation-first-amendment-psaki-murthy-section-230-antitrust-11660732095). Republicans believe in education by choice, with parental (i.e. democratic) oversight. Democrats believe in education by bureaucratic fiat with the sole input of the union donor class.

Trump is a demagogue, to be sure, and that's something dangerous in its own right. He's incompetent, which is dangerous as well. But if the choice is between supporting demagogues or turning the United States into a Venezuelan rendition of Maoist China, replete with own our Red Guards, then a lot of people are justifiably going to choose the former.

So the solution to keeping fascism fringe is to never acknowledge when somebody is being fascist, because if you call it out they will just descend faster.

kk, got it. You can go now. You're just interested in making excuses.

TIL 'not demonizing an entire group of people' is the same as 'never acknowledging when somebody is being fascist'

In summary;

You: *Demonizes moderate republicans*
Moderate republicans: *Allign against you*
You: "Fascists are also aligned against me, so my 'criticism' (demonizing) of moderate republicans was accurate"

---

Me: "Demonizing moderate republicans wasn't a smart approach, in fact they are more inclined to allign against you. In turn you've only made more foes compared to what you would've made otherwise"
You: "Why are you defending/making excuses for republicans?"

Oh so you're just telling lies. That makes sense.

Democrats go out of their way at every opportunity to work with moderate Republicans. Obama basically stalled his entire presidency trying to negotiate with moderate Republicans to pass anything and the whole party marched in lock step with the fascists who called him a Kenyan and then went on to elect the guy who brought the party even closer to fascism.

When you aren't willing to acknowledge reality it's no wonder you make such dumb arguments.

I didn't mean fascism vs. classic liberalism. I meant fascism vs. whatever the Democrats are pushing. Your criticism of Democrats is certainly valid, especially when it comes to education. However, the majority of the GOP is firmly anti-education and that needs to change.

What is the realistic path for a "Venezuelan rendition of Maoist China?" Democrats and Republicans value money equally so I don't see that happening. Hell, even that illegal immigrant bitch AOC has learned to keep her mouth shut because she has no power.

Quote (Wiki)
Fascism is a far-right, authoritarian, ultranationalist political ideology and movement,[1][2][3] characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation and race, and strong regimentation of society and the economy
