It appears to be closer than previous days, but McCarthy lost again.

He lost this vote, but there will be more votes today and I haven't had a chance to read any commentary about why people flipped yet or if there's any hope that McCarthy could win today.

Some members of the house are absent today, so McCarthy only needs 216 to win, and he was 2 votes short. The discussion seems to indicate that McCarthy will win on the next vote and if not that he will likely win later today in a vote.

The good news for the would-be speaker is that this tally represents a dramatic shift in his direction, and it's suddenly far easier to believe he'll ultimately prevail. Plus, for the first time, he actually managed to get more votes than House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
The bad news for McCarthy is that he's already agreed to a ridiculous series of concessions, and the remaining GOP holdouts will be incredibly difficult to win over.

13th vote incoming.

Seems unlikely, but I hope they stick to the plan of never electing McCarthy.

Too much of them are NPCs who will not vote for anything else than the "swamp guy".
