Kamala Harris won't give up her California Senate seat to lose to Trump in November.

I don't think Warren would want to give up her seat, either.

I think Klobuchar is more likely to roll the dice and try something new than the above 2. He won't pick Gabbard. Stacey Abrams is a good bet imo.

Thinking about it, I dont know about Stacey Abrams. Sure, she checks every diversity/intersectionality box, and she's decently popular. But a black from the South would not do a lot for Biden electorally speaking - that's a demographic he's already strong with. And she wouldnt increase his appeal in the states he will need to win in November. Abrams also doesnt have a lot of experience in high office. It would be a stretch to imagine her as president, which is a relatively realistic possibility given Biden's age.

Klobuchar would add female presence, she has appeal in the pivotal Midwest, she has the right age, experience level and temperament. But she's milquetoast as fuck, she would excite absolutely no one and not help with turnout one bit.

Biden and Sanders committing to picking a female VP last night if nominated is pretty sexist. Creating an arbitrary inclusion criteria simply based on gender.

saying "i'm gonna pick someone smart" is more exclusionary. way less than 50% of people are smart.

I don't really agree that it's exclusionary. Going out of your way to include perspectives that are foreign is explicitly inclusive when the opposite perspective is already well represented.

Honestly, I dont think that men and women have very different perspectives on most issues. On some, sure. But definitely not on everything. Imho, the fields where a different, female perspective really is a boon are not wide-ranging enough to justify calls for "gender quotas" or stuff like that. (I'm, of course, aware that the bulk of the Democratic party disagrees with me on that one...)
