It doesn't matter if he did it or not.
He and all other minorities should be released and given cash restitution immediately.
None of them are responsible....systemic racism is.
Just ask tHoR.

Death penalty probably gives them a feeling of power.

That must really disturb you, the idea that non-whites can just bump into you at the market.

Honestly none of this should surprise us. Law enforcement intentionally murdering minorities to make their job easier happens all the time.

You shouldn't tar the entire law enforcement with the same brush.

I am sure there are some white cops who do that, but not all.

then look at the facts of this case. how long has he been jailed, and then ask yourself the question, do you think that the decision to execute him now is overdue or just right? surely you agree with me that it was overly long?

I tried to look up the case but couldn't find much. I am guessing that he spent 10+ years in jail because that's usually how long it takes to appeal a death sentence. It sucks that he seems to have suffered "extra" punishment, however I don't think we should simply let him go just because he has already served some time.

Also, 10+ years in jail is in no way the equivalent of a life sentence.

US jails are not in any way designed to rehabilitate prisoners. never have been.

This.

Also, abolish the death penalty. States should not have the power to execute their citizens.

Really? Why not?

Also, it seems to me that it doesn't really matter whether states abolish the death penalty or not, I mean, if a case has been turned into a federal one, such as when the FBI is involved, one can still be sentenced to death, regardless of the state he's from.

I learned this from the case of Yingying Zhang's abduction and murder.

The death penalty is morally abhorrent and is substantially more expensive than other options given the intensive appeal process typically involved.

I don't follow Innocence Project too closely, but they do get a lot of Innocent people out of prison for crimes they didn't do but shitty prosecutors or cops make it hard for the defense

Kamala Harris was terrible at that

Jailing people for life is pretty morally abhorrent, too. So it's just a matter of degree.
