Present-day Russia isn't communist. After the fall of the Iron Curtain, the country transitioned into unmitigated cutthroat capitalism during the 90s and from there quickly degenerated into the proto-fascist cleptocracy it is today.

the power lying with greedy oligarchs is the greatest hope we have they'll never fire a nuke. not much could cause a full stop of gas/oil/coal from Russia, but if anything could that's it. i doubt it would even take a week to cease all shipments.

In some ways its still reminiscent of its feudal past. Old ways die hard, and Russia was a 100 years late to the modern game.

With a weak government, corrupted Russia could leak/sell all its nuclear knowledge & even material to countries likes iran or nk
