So why do you give special consideration to gender?

In all the other cases when people have delusions, it's a mental illness. But when someone is deluded into thinking that they are a particular gender, it's normal?

Because gender is completely arbitrary and a purely personal identification.

These questions are actually pretty obvious if you are interested in learning about the issue and not just looking for gotchas

So what's so special about being a purely personal identification that you feel compelled to give it special consideration?



I can assure you I am not looking for gotchas. You are not nearly important enough.

But identifying as one is, right?

Because that's part of freedom. If you want to identify as something nobody can stop you if there isn't a reason. If I want to identify as a woman by default I have that right. You don't have to justify doing something you want to do. Others have to justify stopping you. I identify as a decent cook. If you hate my food you might disagree but you don't get to make laws telling me I am mentally ill and I'm actually a terrible cook.

Nobody is saying you can't identify as whatever you want. We are just telling you that we reserve the right to tell you you are mentally ill. There are people who literally believe they are tigers, but we don't make laws compelling them to stop calling themselves tigers. But we can still tell them that they are mentally ill.

We are also under no obligation to make all official forms and documents include the category tiger just to accommodate them.

Gender is the version of Sex that benefits your ideology.

But nobody is asking you to.

And many people are making laws telling people they can't go by their trans pronouns and get whatever affirming surgery they want that is medically supported.

The evidence is overwhelming that teens and adults who get gender affirming surgery have better outcomes. The detransition rate is less than 1% and is dominated by people who don't want to but are forced to by circumstance. By default that is their right and its supported by evidence and plenty of people are trying to make that illegal.

According your official definition of Gender, it is no different than sex - except that it belies the individual entitlement of a person to change it at will.

In other words, there is no difference between sex and gender; you just want to have the right to alter reality to suit whatever brand of mental illness you happen to be rocking today.
