According to that logic, we give "platform" to a great many things. We've countless interviews, documentaries, movies, and Netflix adaptations of serial killers ad nauseum.

This is a totally different situation. We can choose not to put freaks like this guy on YouTube and confused adolescents won’t aspire to grow up to act as such. I am going on a limb here but I can say with certainty that when this was aired it wasn’t condemning this guy. It was surely to affirm his feelings and bring recognition and affirmation to people like him. You don’t see any programs affirming the serial killers.

I think it's a bit of stretch to suggest that this was to "affirm feelings". Videos around oddities is very common.

Every article about it seem to be pretty sympathetic to both sides of his story.
