American politics is jsut such a horror show. It's rubbernecking on an international scale. We jsut can't tear our eyes away from the car crash.
I think international interest in American politics has more to do with the fact that its direction has a very concrete impact on a lot of other nations, while the reverse is not true. On top of that, shitty ideologies (e.g. neoliberalism and wokism) which are hatched in warmongering or market-radical think tanks or in zany far-left U.S. universities tend to spread to the rest of the Western world eventually
if they manage to break through and take hold in the American mainstream. Nipping this shit in the bud in the U.S. is like preventing a cancer from metastasizing.
And of course American politics has the show effect, with sensationalized horse-race coverage, "the fate of the world" being at stake in every election, constant intrigues and scheming. The Trump years were better entertainment than many seasons of Game of Thrones or House of Cards.
