So we now have some updates
Tekle was shot when after 6 hours of the siege, he popped out the window and pointed his gun at police
When the police arrived, they evacuated the mother and her toddlers under a hail of gunfire. At 17:32, the police knock on the door and announce 'police' and immediately come under fire from inside Tekle's apartment, getting the kids out of the hallway while Tekle is still shooting at them and the cops.
At least 3 bullet holes are visible in the metal door to the hallway from the shots fired at the kids/mother/cop by Tekle inbetween when the cops got their and the kids were evacuated.
The police tried to negotiate with him for hours, including via bullhorn and text message and video message, with his parents using all three (contrary to their statements, his dad is on video using the loudspeaker). He hung out the window while they surrounded the apartment.
The sniper announced on his bodycam he saw him with the gun as he popped out again to take a shot at the officers on the ground beneath him and dropped him instantly
