Because it is the legislation’s sole purpose to place restrictions on the people it governs. There is a large chunk of the United States who don’t want people to have an abortion a day before their due date for just whatever reason. Those people elect other people into office to pass laws based on what they believe
Is moral.

I'm sorry, I don't think the government should be intervening in people's personal lives and healthcare choices.

Are you mostly libertarian?

Follow up, do you support euthanasia? In the sense that the government should have no say?

Without turning this topic towards me, I am openly inviting anybody to honestly defend this bill. This is 100% in good faith I am not looking to badmouth anybody, I simply would like to see the opposition.

I have done so in post #18 and #28.

Seems very dead in the senate 6 months ago with only 48 votes (60 needed).

I usually don't read bills unless they are signed by the president. I can't change the bills and the contents of proposed bills is not going to change how I vote. So me reading and forming an opinion on dead bills is not even worth my time. If it becomes law, then i decide how much i care.

What is this topic even about? Seems like it's to beat the house democrats over the head with a dead horse. Sounds like a circle jerk.

I have made it very clear this topic is about those that defend this bill and why they feel that way. A simple inquiry to the most basic of your political positions is on topic.

It is important to understand which representatives are supporting which bills, regardless if they become law or not. In the same way the descending opinions on court cases are important.

But again, and I have been extremely clear from the beginning, this topic is about the language in this specific bill, which has overwhelming support within the democrat party. I cannot ask Joaquin Castro (the closest representative to me who voted in favor of this) directly. I would like to understand the positions of those who are likely to vote for a representative who, in turn, will vote for legislation such as this bill.

So how is your position on Roe not held to the same standard?

Why are you being dishonest about your intentions?

Because this is not about my position on roe. There is a “New Topic” button at the top and bottom of every page. I did not start a topic saying, “come and ask me about my firmly held beliefs,” although I did make them clear from the beginning.

Abortion should be available on-demand irrespective of fetal development in large part because the prohibition of such is untenable when people have to articulate the real-world application of anti-abortion philosophy.

Bumping this for anyone who actually wants to engage in a discussion.
