of course the most important news show in germany writes "right wing ex president shot"

never change scumbags

I don't understand why you think this is a scumbag comment. He was an accomplished right wing politician and "right wing" isn't disparaging. I'm proud to be right wing on a lot of issues and Shinzo Abe was unabashedly proud of his identity.

NPR never passes up an opportunity to spit on the graves of those they disagree with or to laud the world's austere clerics and aspiring rappers

Not disparaging in any way.

If you look back at some comments, I am sure you will note that a few of our friends here are saying it's the Chinese.

There is no doubt that they were behind it in some way. It's just a question of how many layers deep we need to go. China and their supporters are some of the most despicable people in human history. Congress should act IMMEDIATELY to recognize Taiwan as a sovereign nation and push to have them replace China (a.k.a. West Taiwan) on the UN Security Council.

Biden should assassinate Kim Jon Un so that millions of malnourished refugees flood China, forcing them to mow them down, and then the UN can act.

I wouldn't be opposed to this.

Ultranationalist is almost exclusively negative in context of modern American English. Abe was a nationalist who worked to deepen security ties with the United States. His nationalism, at least in the American sense, was relatively moderate.

He also racked up huge wins in the 2012-2013 election cycles, earning a clear democratic mandate after years of weak, revolving leadership. Without health complications, he would still be the Prime Minister today. We might as well call every politician divisive in their obituary.

You don't think his stance on the military was controversial in Japan? That's what he's most known for. He also wanted nuclear weapons stationed in Japan (something that I personally agree with but it probably isn't that popular in Japan). Anyway, I don't think these headlines are bad and they certainly don't belong in the same universe as "austere religious scholar." When you cry about reasonable headlines, people will forget about the truly egregious ones.

"Divisive" and "arch-conservative" are definitely words with a negative connotation.

China would just have to ship some food to NK while securing the border. The starving people would be thankful they can eat something different than algas for the first time in months and pledge their undying loyalty to Supreme Leader Pooh.

i think you are confusing the NK people's motivation as solely food. many think each day about leaving the country as much as they think about a warm bowl of shark fin soup. given the chance to leave they'd crawl through barbed wire and sell their own daughter off to a guard, and do.
