It's amazing how any law biding person can be convinced to believe that it's more important to protect criminals than protecting us from criminals. If Joseph Goebbels was alive today, he'd be amazed at the magic trick the left is pulling to convince half the population from completely abandoning personal interests in favor of ideological aims.
I want to actually reduce crime. More police doesn't do that. In many ways it makes the problem worse, as incarceration and dealing with the justice system more often than not causes greater desparation.
The police are typically not defending us against criminals. They are dealing with domestic disputes, noise complaints, traffic violations, etc. etc. Things that largely just generate fines and do little to actually protect the community from criminals, and that would be better handled by other professionals.
Why do police show up when somebody is having a mental health issue? Why does somebody with a gun need to show up when an autistic kid is having a fit? They don't. They aren't trained for it. They aren't equipped for it. It is not fair to put all these things on our police officers. They can't be expected to do everything.
We need more social workers, both for the sake of the public and for the sake of the police officers themselves.
