YES, both are apt for corruption, capitalism gives the citizen choice, communism removes it. when you're in a pit of snakes having choices is nice.

Honestly lately it feels like you get the illusion of choice, we have an election soon, two party system, both parties deal with the same lobbies, both parties follow the same neo liberal beliefs economically.
Its an oligarchy and we get to pretend we made a choice, but all the choices have the same outcomes.
What i want is not communism as such, more of a technocracy lead by scholars and experts, with nationalised resources, dental and healthcare along with a negative income tax or ubi.
My country could easily do this, instead we made 3 morbidly obese people hit the top 50 wealth list.

politically choices are slim, that's true. but u get many more choices as a consumer. politically in communism u get zero choices tho. and that oligarchy is really only at fed level, state and local govts still do plenty of good work.

Here state governors will literally resign mid term and pop up in an $800,000 a year banking or executive role with a company they dealt with in their government role.

Death toll is incredible.

Also a sunken cost at this point. Current theories should be dated on how they can be applied here and not how they were applied on the past in different societies.

I have been thinking on this a lot, and whenever arguments start about this people point to things like stalin's death count of 15 million.
So i started to go over some numbers due to capitalism and lack of regulation and realized tetraethyl lead killed more people than stalin and hitler combined, the tobacco industry spent decades covering up the effects of their products.. asbestos companies like james hardie did the same.
So what is the ACTUAL death toll for capitalism?

Capitalism is a way of organizing your economy. Socialism is a way of organizing your government.

Leaded gas was also used in socialist countries, as is tobacco use and asbestos.

All of those things were pushed in those countries by corporations under capitalism..
The free market has caused more deaths than any other single factor i can think of, lack of regulation and abundance of lobbying has caused untold misery.
It could have been possible to stop this under a better system.

Socialism is an utopia which will be failing throughout decades if not centuries because of human nature. Perfect system requires perfect people. Most of them are not.

People can build a structure and put protections in place to make it work soundly, its just a lack of political will due to the power wielded by the wealthy that holds us back.

Ranks, money, social rating make it impossible to be implemented right now.
