No they could just simply say that’s not what school is for, your here to learn and I’m here to teach, not tell you about my relationship… btw how many young kids ask questions about wedding rings? Are you a teacher, if so that makes me kinda nervous for your students
my wife is a teacher, students in the age 3-10 range ask personal questions of teachers all day every day.
why are you nervous?

Having a specific cirriculum nation-wide is absolutely essential on some level. You can't really be a functional country if half your students aren't learning the basics they need to function.
Do you think common core fails in that regard, and if so what do they do that should be changed?
This philosophy would work if students and teachers were both robots, but this kind of autism will never work in the real world.
Growing up I knew about every teachers life because they are people and want to share their experiences with the students. It's vitally important that teachers impart more than the textbooks they are teaching.
the issue is simple, schools cant teach the entirety of common core in a school year in many instances. they simply dont have enough time in the year. so it clearly needs revision. a national standard isn't a bad concept, but it also shouldn't be 125% of the time they have, nor 95% of the time. it stifles creativity. and the resources arent provided for lesson planning to teach common core, its a list of items teachers must figure out how to teach. its as good of a first step towards teaching reform as ACA was for healthcare reform.

There is a time and place for everything. What purpose does school serve? Can we say it is forming better adults? Or are we merely mending the tools for `society`. Really, who is school really serving?
