I heard nobody pays you like you pay yourself. I have a pretty good job that I enjoy but the older I get the more I wished I had learned a trade outside the level of general handy man. Deeply understanding plumbing and knowing how to repair it and use the tools for example would be awesome.
I could do private practice therapy but I really think I would hate that. I think I would honestly be bored doing a normal job after being used to what I experience every day. Someone literally got socked at 8 am today for very weird reasons and the unit has been a maelstrom of chaos, violence, and emotion for a few days in a row. I've physically restrained people for two days in a row, got a guy living on the street with Alzheimer's a forever home in a nice nursing home dementia unit so he isn't pooping in weird places on my unit anymore he is doing it there lol, had a guy tell me he called the cops on his girlfriend because she smoked all his weed and they brought him to the psych ward and he thinks he should stop calling the cops for help (I agreed they are busy and their time is valuable). I met a woman today who is a marvel of resilience and we're gonna get her somewhere better than she is, talking r e c o v e r y, which is my favorite thing in the world. But man, this shit takes it out of ya. I didn't get physically hurt and for that I'm grateful.
The pandemic has made everyone go nuts and we're really feeling it on inpatient mental health lol. All lockdowns need to end ASAP.
you can still do it, i used to think differently, but its (almost) never too late to change careers, if you really want to
go to trade school, start your own business and boom
