All for it. In the Territory where I live 75% of of age people smoke per the last census.

There's no consideration for second hand smoke here either.

WI bars used to be open for smoking, u couldnt go to a bar without just coughing when u entered. i still remember smoking marb reds at the local place on a new years eve right before the ban took place. much nicer in bars now tho, and ive quit smoking.

Smoking inside is banned here but people smoke within an inch of the doors since its been -50C here for weeks and will only get colder. People also smoke in their rental units which as a landlord is miserable.

Traditional clothing here, an Amauti has a large hood where your child sits on your back essentially from birth until around 40-50lbs. So your kid is sitting in the hood and all that smoke is just blowing right into their faces, right from birth.

We have the best of both worlds. Addiction to both pop and nicoteen and sugar.

"The Inuit Oral Health survey, conducted by Nunavut Tunngavik in 2008 to 2009, found 85 per cent of Inuit children aged three to five had had one or more cavities. And about 97 per cent of those aged 12 to 17 had at least one tooth affected by decay.

It pointed to language barriers, food insecurity, overcrowded housing and lower access to health care than the rest of the country as factors that negatively affect Inuit health.

Nationally, the Canadian Dental Association said about 24 per cent of children had at least one decayed tooth in 2010.

Nunavut had the highest rate of food insecurity (36.7%); over four times the Canadian average (8.3%) in 2011–2012

And why do we have food insecurity. Because people are buying the 30 dollar 12 pack of pop over the 3 dollar 4L of milk. Just completely addicted to sugar.

Let them smoke but they have to forfeit their health coverage.

Best of both worlds

Government can still make revenue on taxed tobacco products and save on health care costs, while citizens can continue to willfully inhale poison.

Hudson Bay company made their riches back in time trading tobacco and liquor for furs here. Its no surprise that many of these towns are by the old trading posts that really were in operation not that long ago.

People that would have never experienced either of those things all of a sudden had a significantly supply.

Maybe can clear this up but I recall when they tried to hike cigarette prices in AUS the Native tribes suddenly could no longer afford groceries because all their money just went to high priced cigs.

Smoking is a net loss in countries with universal health care.

This is somewhat true, over time the situation improved and smoking rates have dropped drastically.

Not that surprising. Many 3rd world countries have odd laws.
